Transformation of a school sports hall!

Here at Maidmans Marquees we love a challenge so when we were asked to transform a Bournemouth school sports hall into a gorgeous marquee venue, we jumped at the chance!

And this is how we did it..

This Bournemouth school has an impressive sports hall. Our first task was to oh, so carefully carry in a lay out the marquee equipment

We built a frame down one side and one end of the hall. The roof and wall linings would hang from here

Having secured wire for the linings to hang on all around, we start to hang the ivory linings

And we are nearly there – outside the ‘marquee’ and hidden from view, there is plenty of access for caterers etc and lots of storage

Having added wall linings and navy blue swags, the venue is ready to be dressed and decorated for the evening’s events. Anyone walking in will no longer see a sports hall!

What sort of marquee lighting for your marquee events?

Maidmans Marquees is based in Verwood, Dorset and Andover, Hampshire and provides marquee hire throughout Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. We offer a variety of marquee lighting options for your marquee events. With so much choice, much will depend on the overall effect, theme or ambience you have in mind for your particular event.

If it’s a wedding or party, you may wish to consider dimmer-controlled chandeliers, pretty paper lanterns or fairy lights cleverly hidden under the marquee roof linings.

If you are having a dance floor with a band or DJ, you may like some colour change wall wash battens behind the wall linings for a flood of colour. Or maybe a black or ivory starlit ceiling over hte dance floor.

Uplighters can be used anywhere within a marquee for subtle lighting or we can provide spot lights, including awesome sound-to-light spots.

Outside, consider some striking festoon lighting or more strings of fairy lights strung between trees or hung around the perimeter of the marquee.

Wedding season is almost upon us and we are excited that we have more wedding marquees booked this year than ever before!

Throughout Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, we are installing wedding marquees in private gardens, in the grounds of some fabulous country houses and hotels, in fields, farms and campsites.

The flexibility of having a marquee wedding seems to really appeal to those couples that want something a little bit different.

A marquee gives couples the ability to create any theme or atmosphere, specify any type of furniture and seating arrangement, use lighting for extra effect and add additional tented areas for a blessing ceremony, drink reception, catering, bar or chill-out area.

Open day for new Dorset marquee wedding venue, Bailie House!

The beautiful Bailie House at Sturminster Marshall is opening its doors to weddings from 2016.

Marquee sizes and capacity – just what size marquee do you need?

Marquees come in all sizes…at Maidmans Marquees our frame marquees come in 3m, 6m, 9m and 12m widths and the lengths are in sections of 3m.

By deciding how many guests you want at your event, you can then use our marquee occupancy guidelines to see how big a marquee you might need. Obviously, these are only estimates but generally give a good indication of sizing. However, bear in mind that the addition of a photo booth, bar, stage, casino table etc may mean you need more space.

Our frame marquees don’t have guy ropes, so other than a small gap around the outside of the marquee, we dont need to allow any extra space. If room is tight, measure up the available area and then find a marquee that fits – use our occupancy guidelines to then see the maximum number of guests that can be accommodated.

We always conduct a site visit before we accept a marquee booking so we will double check measurements and discuss what exactly you want to include in your marquee. We can then advise on the final size.

Maidmans Marquee hire Salisbury Charity ball

Maidmans Marquee hire Salisbury Charity ball, Marquees make great venues for all types of charity events but particularly fund-raising balls.

The opulence that a marquee can create is in keeping with a formal event and guests suited, booted and dressed in their finery!

Our marquees were recently installed for a wonderful evening at Chafyn Grove School in Salisbury, Wiltshire and catered for over 260 guests. As well as the lined marquees, we installed a dance floor (this crowd loved their dancing) covered by a twinkling starlit ceiling, a stage for the band, a screened off catering area, thermostatically controlled heating and a large area for the all-important bar.

We loved the final result!
