We thought you might like to know a little more about the people you are dealing with in our family business and put a face to a name
David – Co Owner and Director
David and wife Verity bought Maidmans Marquees in 2012. With a wealth of experience from a career in engineering management roles both within the automotive industry and testing arena, David got to the point in his life when he was looking to do something ‘totally different’ (some would call this a mid-life crisis!).
David led the company’s move to its current base in Verwood in 2013 and continues to streamline our operational procedures. His ultimate goal is to make our installations quicker, safer and always looking fantastic. If there’s a tricky job to be done or a particularly challenging site, David will always try and find an innovative way to create the perfect marquee venue.
A marquee man by day and rock star by evening, David is lead guitarist and vocalist for party band with a difference, Jake’s Last Fandango. He is also a keen skier, having only taken up skiing 5 years ago, and remarkably still has the use of all four limbs!
Verity – Co-Owner and Director
After a successful career in sales and marketing across a variety of industries, including healthcare and marine, Verity was ready to bring those skills to bear on her own project for a change. She handles all the Marketing for the business as well as keeping the finances and invoicing in order.
Verity is originally from Loughton in Essex but moved to Hampshire in 1987. Like David, she is a keen skier, but unlike David she manages to get down the mountain without constantly falling over! In 2013 she completed the three peaks challenge, climbing the three highest peaks on Mainland Britain, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all within 24 hours. She has also had past success racing boats, piloting a power boat in the Round Scotland RIB Race with the first all-woman racing team.
In her down-time Verity loves being a Mum to five, a Nana to five grandchildren and taking cockapoos Frodo and Peggy, for long walks.
Andrew – Co Owner and Director
Andrew is David and Verity’s son-in-law and joined the company as a Director in 2013, leaving behind a successful career in the cut-throat world of corporate sales.
Having had his own wedding in a marquee several years ago, he knows first-hand how to create a perfect venue, and how stressful even the best planned event has the potential to be.
Originally from Glasgow, Andrew has lived in Hampshire for over 25 years but is still a staunch Rangers supporter. With wife Jade, a 10 year old son and twin 8 year old girls, life is always busy! When he gets the chance, he loves a round of golf and still plays the occasional game of football.
Although currently working on other business ventures, Andrew continues to be involved in helping to steer and grow Maidmans Marquees.
